Himalayan Conclave Indian Himalayan Region-2047: Environmental Conservation with Sustainable Socio-Economic Growth

The three-day Himalayan Conclave on “Indian Himalayan Region–2047: Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Socio-Economic Growth” commenced on 13 November 2025 at GBPNIHE, Kosi-Katarmal, Almora, co-hosted with UNDP. Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary, MoEF&CC, was the Chief Guest, with eminent scientists, vice-chancellors, and policymakers from across the Himalayan region in attendance.

On Day 2, the Conclave highlighted the Himalayan Youth Researcher Forum and focused discussions on sustainable mountain agriculture, value addition, protected cultivation, and livelihood enhancement.


On Day Three, experts emphasized regional cooperation for landscape restoration, nature-based financing, green building and energy solutions, and climate-resilient tourism models. The valedictory session highlighted the need to integrate scientific recommendations into policy, strengthen data-sharing mechanisms, and enhance collaboration across the Himalaya.
