A stakeholder consultation meeting on springshed management in Arunachal Pradesh, organised by G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment–NERC in collaboration with Central Himalayan Rural Action Group and supported by HCL Foundation, highlighted the urgent need for scientific collaboration to address declining spring discharge and rural water insecurity. Experts emphasized hydrogeological investigations, spring mapping, groundwater monitoring, and community-based approaches to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable mountain development. The consultation recommended establishing a state-level coordination platform, unified monitoring protocols, and integrated springshed management strategies for long-term water security in the Himalayan region.
