World Water Day 2026 Awareness Programme on Water and Gender

The Centre for Land and Water Resource Management (CLWRM) observed World Water Day 2026 by organizing an awareness programme for school students in Hawalbag Block, Almora, focusing on this year’s theme—Water and Gender. The programme, held at Gyan Vigyan Children’s Academy, Hawalbagh, highlighted the link between water access and gender in Himalayan regions, emphasizing the central role of women in water collection and management. Students were sensitized to the importance of recognizing women as key stakeholders in conserving traditional water sources such as naula, dhara, and natural springs. Students were encouraged to adopt responsible water-use practices at the household level. They were also introduced to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and took the Mission LiFE pledge, committing to water conservation and sustainable living. The initiative aimed to promote awareness on the intersection of water management and gender equity while encouraging responsible environmental behavior among students.
