Two-Day Seabuckthorn Processing Training Strengthens Livelihoods of Nubra Women

A two-day NABARD-funded training on Seabuckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) processing empowered members of Chamsen Women SHG from Zamo-40 village, Nubra. Held at the Seabuckthorn Processing Unit in Chamsen, the programme under “Strengthening Ladakh's Livelihoods” was inaugurated by LRC-NIHE Leh Head, with TOSHH Natural Products present. Participants learned seabuckthorn's nutritional benefits, sustainable harvesting, post-harvest handling, and small-scale processing. Hands-on demos covered leaf tea, herbal blends, pickles, papads, scrubs, soaps, lip balms, and candies, plus packaging, labeling, quality standards, and marketing. NABARD and LEDeG officials urged forming a society for better market access. SHG members seek upscaling with follow-up support.
