Capacity-Building Trainings on Springshed Management

On December 9, 2025, a Training of Community Resource Persons was conducted at GBP-NIHE under the Hi-Reap Program (ICIMOD). A total of 40 participants (30 students from GIC Jyoli and 10 from NIHE) attended. The training covered the importance of Himalayan springs, springshed concepts, and their role in water security and biodiversity. Students received hands-on training in water-quality testing and spring-discharge measurement, enhancing their understanding of spring health and conservation. On December 10, 2025, a similar training was organized at GIC Khunt under the Hi-Reap Program, with 45 participants (40 from GIC Khunt and 5 from NIHE). The programme focused on spring importance, springshed management, and practical water-quality and discharge assessments. The training strengthened participants’ awareness and skills to support community sensitization and sustainable water-conservation initiatives.
