The 26th Meeting of the GBP NIHE Society

The 26th Meeting of the GBP NIHE Society was held on 2 December 2025 and was honoured by the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Shri Bhupender Yadav, and the Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS) for Environment, Forest & Climate Change (EF&CC), Shri Kirtivardhan Singh. The Hon’ble Minister emphasised the critical role of primary research in biodiversity conservation and evidence-based policymaking, and guided the Institute to focus on: Studying the Gangotri Glacier • Conducting research on the Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone and alternative livelihood models • Serving as a knowledge partner for 100% completion of Biodiversity Registers in the Himalayan region • Becoming a knowledge centre for Ramsar sites in the Greater Himalayas • Developing time-bound projects and action plans across all centres. We remain committed to advancing this mandate with dedication.
